INSTALLATION

" IKILU "

Through collages and art pieces, Creative Director Aki Tomura’s installation examines what it means to “live (ikilu)”, inspired by modern day matagi hunters who work in the mountains and their ideas on the “forest and city”.

CONCEPT:

When I first starting how I can express life, I couldn’t come to a conclusion, and it became a joint process among myself, nature, and the wonderful people I met. The installation is a compilation of voices, which started out as one, and eventually attracted more and more people with the same voice and ideas. In a world where lifestyle and the materialistic value are being explored, I hope to start a conversation on what it means to “live”, and look forward to that discussion becoming a part of Japan’s culture.

MESSAGE:

Nobody lives forever. Let us acknowledge our mortality and live in the moment. Talk to friends and family about true happiness, and more importantly, try to understand who you really are. Then, with unclouded eyes, let us look out into the world. You will see that we are not alone. The future is not in the far distance, the future is constantly created in the “present”. Let us bring together our expertise, join forces, and head towards the Utopia we have yet to see.
